Does font size matter?

There is a growing trend among Web designers who believe that small text will give a Web page a sleek appearance and provide more space per page for the actual content. This sometimes results in unreasonably small font sizes used in Web pages. This does not sit well with the diverse platforms existing in the market today. Web pages are displayed depending on the browser and the platform the user has. Varying devices such as portable, mobile and projectors make the delivery of Web pages sometimes unpredictable.

Even with Web design targeted for a specific platform, text settings may still vary thereby not producing the desired results. The basic problem is accessibility and usability of the Web page. A good Web design should look good without reducing or enlarging the default text size.
